AN LMS ‘GENIUS BAR’: Faculty who use Instructure’s Canvas LMS will soon have access to instructional design support. Today Instructure announced a partnership with iDesignEDU, a Dallas-based startup that offers instructional design services. “Canvas is a game-changing platform in higher education, but faculty and institutional leaders need support to maximize its potential to implement new modalities, identify at-risk students or measure learning outcomes,” iDesignEDU CEO Paxton Riter said in a press release.
The partnership basically provides human instructional design consultants to help colleges and universities use Canvas to build courses more effectively. The move comes in response to growing demand for instructional designers, a shift noted yesterday in The Chronicle of Higher Education’s “Trends Report.” USC Marshall’s online MBA program has already taken advantage of the hands-on support. Pricing details were not immediately available.
